unBoxed 2026: Amazon automated the buy. Now strategy is the scarce part.

Three takes on this week's announcements, and what brands should do before Q1 planning.

At unBoxed this week, Amazon folded Sponsored Ads and its DSP into one AI-led platform, Amazon Ads Agent. It launched Full-Funnel Campaigns, which set channel mix, creative, audiences and pacing from a single budget. It added DVA+ for display, streaming TV and audio, Branded Conversations inside Alexa for Shopping, and generative tools that turn product assets into video.

The headline is simple: buying is getting automated. That makes the decisions around the buy more valuable, not less.

1. Let the machine buy. Don't let it grade itself.

Amazon says Full-Funnel Campaigns delivered 67% higher long-term return on ad spend and 29% lower cost to win new-to-brand customers in beta. Those are Amazon's numbers, measured inside Amazon. Before you move budget, set your own read: holdout markets or audiences, a new-to-brand target agreed with finance, and a clear line between sales you'd have made anyway and sales the media created. Automate execution. Keep the objective and the scorecard in your hands.

2. Your product page is now your creative.

Branded Conversations lets shoppers ask follow-up questions about your products through Alexa. The answers come from your content: detail pages, images, guides and reviews. That moves product content from a back-office task to the front line of brand building. Brief it like a campaign. What does a shopper ask before they buy, and what should your brand sound like when it answers?

3. Streaming TV just got easier to buy. A plan didn't.

DVA+ puts display, streaming TV and audio into one buy, and Amazon says its new campaign types start at a $100 daily budget for U.S. advertisers. Its AI creative tools promise 71% more product coverage and up to 15% sales growth. That opens premium video to challenger brands that were priced out. But tools solve volume, not the idea. More versions of a weak message are still a weak message.

What to do before Q1 planning

  • Test Full-Funnel Campaigns on one brand or category against a holdout. Agree the read with finance first.
  • Audit your top 20 product pages as if they were ads: claims, imagery and answers to the obvious questions.
  • Write one brief for upper-funnel video that works on Amazon and off it.
  • Decide who owns the AI agent's settings. If no one does, the platform does.

Amazon just gave every brand a very capable buyer. You still need someone to set the strategy and check the math.
